Dorla was raised in Carteret County, NC, by loving Christian parents. Her life centered around her family, her church, and her grandfather's farm. After graduating from East Carolina University, Dorla married the love of her life, Charlie Pake, and began teaching high school English. Twins Chase and Maddie were born in 1995 and changed her life dramatically! She began a second career in June of 2001 as the office administrator for Emerald Isle Baptist Church. Dorla credits her faith and her gracious Heavenly Father for bringing her through difficult times in her life, including the loss of Charlie in 2021. Now a grandmother to little Walter Hastings Pake, she spends her spare time in the kitchen baking and creating recipes to try out on family and friends when she's not in the office at EIBC or entertaining her sweet Hastings.
